Fenugreek - More than you think. Hair Loss. Parasites. Digestion. Malaria
Fenugreek - FOOD AS MEDICINE
The spectrum of fenugreek action is very wide. It exhibits tissue regenerating, anti-inflammatory, diastolic, digestive, nutrient absorption and even anti-cancer properties and anti MALARIA properties! Recently, powerful effect of fenugreek on the scalp and hair has been noticed, which is why it has been widely used in cosmetics, for example shampoos and conditioners.
Fenugreek is one of the oldest medicinal plants with exceptional medicinal and nutritional profile. Fenugreek seeds contain a substantial amount of fiber, protein, phospholipids, glycolipids, oleic acid, linolenic acid, linoleic acid, choline, vitamins A, B1, B2, C, nicotinic acid, niacin, and many other minerals like: potassium (22% DV), iron (186% DV), phosphorus (30% DV), magnesium (48% DV), manganese (61% DV), and copper (56% DV) - per 100g.
Fenugreek is an herb commonly used in Indian and Middle Eastern cuisines. Its seeds and leaves have a slightly bitter taste and are often used in curries and spice blends but will will focus today on well-studied uses in herbal medicine like:
for inflammation of the scalp and on the whole body - it is used for boils, ulcers and for hair growth;
Lowers LDL cholesterol - steroid saponins increase cholesterol metabolism, which has a positive effect on slowing down the absorption of fatty compounds;
Lowers blood sugar levels - trigonelline (Trigonelline is an alkaloid) and coumarin are the main compounds that contribute to reducing sugar levels.
Supports the blood formation and immune system to work better and stimulate the hematopoietic activity of the bone marrow (the formation of blood cellular components - to produce and replenish the blood system)
Fenugreek is a great support for digestive system - thanks to the content of mucous substances, it facilitates digestion and helps to cleanse the intestines of deposits that can linger for a long time and rot
HAIR LOSS AND PARASITES?
Fenugreek contains iron and protein, which are very important for healthy hair growth. Its composition also includes flavonoids and saponins, which are also considered to stimulate hair growth, additionally they also have anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties not to mention also antiparasitic properties! ( including for the ones that feed on blood - like in case of Malaria - Plasmodium ) - yes hair loss can be caused by parasites as well ! THEY CAN STEAL NUTRIENTS NEEDED FOR HAIR GROWTH - IRON is one of their favorite. Not only do they steal, but they also leave behind toxic waste that can affect the health of your scalp.
